When To Choose Replacement Or Full Repackaging
Replace the packaging when damage compromises protection (exposed product), or when corrective labeling or cosmetic fixes would be insufficient. Repackaging is appropriate for customer-specific packouts, seasonal merchandising, or when converting bulk product into retail kits. Repackaging often requires inventory reservation, additional materials, and possibly new SKU creation.

Use a clear decision tree at receiving or returns to standardize choices. Important criteria include product sensitivity to damage, cost of materials and labor, traceability needs, compliance consequences, and customer SLA.
