Typical steps for poster orders include placing an acid-free tissue layer, adding a rigid backing board, inserting corner protectors (for flats), and sealing in a waterproof sleeve before using a rigid mailer or tube. For multi-print orders, interleaving tissue between prints prevents abrasion.


Carrier And Rate Considerations


Carriers price long packages and large flat mailers differently. Tubes often incur length-based surcharges; large flat mailers can hit dimensional-weight pricing well above actual weight. Standard parcel strategies—batching, zone optimization—still apply but must be adjusted for poster geometry. Negotiating discounted rates for common poster dimensions or choosing regional carriers for heavy or long packages can reduce costs.


Inventory And SKU Management


SKU setup must include physical attributes beyond weight: flat-versus-rolled flag, thickness, maximum safe stack height, and recommended packing method. Standard fulfillment would favor the lower cost, but poster fulfillment calculates total landed cost: shipping plus expected returns and reputational loss. If return and reprint costs exceed savings, the premium flat packaging is the better choice.
