Dock congestion is the buildup of trucks, containers, or freight at a warehouse, port, or distribution center that exceeds the facility's handling capacity, causing delays in loading and unloading. It is typically caused by scheduling conflicts, labor or equipment shortages, or customs and paperwork delays, and leads to increased costs, longer delivery times, and reduced operational efficiency.
