A robust planogram balances commercial objectives—such as increasing sales per square foot and managing inventory velocity—with operational realities like stocking ergonomics and supplier packaging dimensions.

How Planogram Types Vary


Planograms differ by format and fidelity. Paper or PDF shelf maps are low-fidelity and serve simple resets. High-fidelity digital planograms include 2D or 3D renderings, barcoded facings, and integration with planogram software that can simulate shopper sightlines and sales uplifts.
