With packaging making up nearly 40% of global plastic production, brands and consumers alike are seeking sustainable alternatives. RENW, a new company launched today, offers an industrial hemp-based solution aimed at reducing plastic use and deforestation while providing cost-effective, high-performance materials.

    A Game-Changing Approach to Sustainability

RENW’s solution is built on 20 years of material science advancements and over 75 patents. Their core innovation revolves around using a whole-plant industrial hemp approach, with a proprietary sulfur-free technology that reduces CO2e emissions and minimizes waste. RENW’s products are biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable, offering an environmentally friendly way to eliminate plastic and reduce dependency on tree-based materials in supply chains.

Rural Communities Benefit from Hemp Production

RENW is also committed to supporting rural communities by partnering with U.S. farmers to grow industrial hemp as a rotational crop. The company plans to build 10 bioregional manufacturing facilities, each expected to create around 50 jobs, contributing to economic growth in these regions.

“Our mission is to revolutionize the packaging industry by providing solutions that don’t force brands to choose between environmental responsibility and cost-effectiveness,” said Kimberly Kovacs, CEO of RENW and element6 Dynamics. Leading brands like Patagonia, Veuve Clicquot, and VW have already embraced hemp-based materials, and RENW aims to help other companies follow suit.

    Collaboration with PAPACKS®

RENW was formed through a partnership with European packaging leader PAPACKS®. This collaboration seeks to expand the market for sustainable, hemp-based packaging across industries such as food, cosmetics, and retail.

“At PAPACKS®, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable packaging to help end humanity’s reliance on plastic,” said Tahsin Dag, CEO of PAPACKS®. “This partnership enables us to bring cutting-edge hemp-based solutions to a variety of industries.”
