Introduction of New Features at Deliver Conference
Uber Freight has announced a significant evolution of its end-to-end enterprise logistics platform during its annual customer conference, Deliver. The company unveiled enhancements that include integration with Uber Direct, modular Transportation Management System (TMS) functionality, advanced Insights AI features, and flexible procurement software. These updates are designed to provide customers with greater transparency, control, and intelligence across the entire supply chain.
Integration with Uber Direct for Seamless Deliveries
One of the key updates announced is Uber Freight's integration with Uber Direct, Uber's on-demand delivery-as-a-service platform. This integration combines one of North America’s largest logistics networks with a vast same-day delivery courier network, enabling new delivery options including same day and scheduled deliveries through Uber Freight’s Parcel Transportation Management System (PTMS). Over the past 12 months, Uber Freight has managed over 250 million parcels via PTMS, and this integration aims to further optimize the logistics process for shippers.
Hany Elkordy, Head of Last Mile for Uber Freight, stated, “We are confident that this will deliver meaningful value to growing and enterprise shippers by speeding up their network, lowering transportation costs, improving service reliability, and enhancing customer experience.”
Enhanced, Modular TMS for Modern Shipping Needs
Uber Freight also introduced enhancements to its next-generation TMS, making it more modular, flexible, and adaptable to modern supply chains. Key features include a new tracking portal, a simplified dock scheduler, an enhanced load management system, and upgraded financial management tools. Additionally, upcoming AI-powered search and shipment execution workflows are set to provide even greater efficiency in managing freight operations.
Daniel Moran, Corporate Logistics Manager at Meridian Adhesives, highlighted the benefits of Uber Freight’s TMS: “The system's adaptability to our specific needs ensures we’re always equipped with the right tools to manage logistics efficiently, streamlining everything from procurement and execution to payments.”
AI-Driven Insights for Enhanced Decision-Making
Uber Freight is advancing its AI capabilities with updates to Insights AI, a generative AI-powered insights tool designed to transform how shippers manage their networks. New features include enhanced chat functionality for complex queries and a KPI dashboard for real-time insights. The company plans to leverage advanced AI models to provide proactive recommendations, helping shippers navigate logistics challenges more effectively.
Raj Subbiah, Head of Product at Uber Freight, emphasized, “AI is redefining logistics, and Uber Freight is at the forefront of this shift. With Insights AI, we're empowering shippers to make more informed decisions, streamline operations, and achieve greater efficiency throughout their supply chains.”
Expanding Access to Uber Freight Exchange
Uber Freight is expanding the availability of Uber Freight Exchange: Contract and is introducing early access to Uber Freight Exchange: Spot, with full availability expected in 2025. The Exchange allows shippers to manage procurement within the Uber Freight TMS, providing a centralized hub for load management and procurement activities.
Robert Chase, Director of Transportation and Inbound Logistics at Tosca, shared his experience: “Uber Freight Exchange has helped us centralize our procurement operations, allowing us to act faster and smarter in a rapidly changing logistics landscape.”
Collaborative Design Partner Program
Uber Freight also launched its industry-first Design Partner Program, which allows customers to collaborate deeply with the company on the development of next-generation solutions. Nearly 40 Design Partners have already played a critical role in shaping innovations such as Uber Freight Exchange, the TMS, and Insights AI.
