AIT Worldwide Logistics Expands into Oceania with Connor Anderson International Acquisition
AIT Worldwide Logistics is expanding into Oceania through the acquisition of Sydney-based freight forwarder Connor Anderson International, adding logistics operations in Sydney and Melbourne to its growing global network.
Founded in 1974, Connor Anderson International provides air, ocean and road transportation, customs brokerage, warehousing and project cargo services across Australia.
The acquisition gives AIT a direct operating presence in Australia while strengthening its ability to serve technology, aerospace, automotive and other customers moving complex or high-value cargo throughout the region.
AIT said the transaction will serve as the foundation for a broader expansion across Oceania.
AIT Establishes Direct Presence in Australia
Connor Anderson International brings AIT established operations in two of Australia’s largest logistics markets.
The company is headquartered in Sydney and also operates an office and warehouse in Melbourne.
Those locations give AIT local capabilities supporting international freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing and domestic transportation.
For customers already using AIT in North America, Europe or Asia, the acquisition creates a more direct connection into the Australian market through the same global logistics network.
AIT and Connor Anderson International also have an existing working relationship dating back to 2011, giving the companies more than a decade of experience working together before the acquisition.
Customs Brokerage Adds In-House Import Capabilities
One of the more significant additions is Connor Anderson International’s established customs brokerage operation.
AIT highlighted the capability as particularly valuable for customers importing goods into Australia.
Rather than relying solely on outside customs partners, the acquired business gives AIT an experienced local team capable of managing customs clearance alongside transportation and warehousing.
That provides customers with a more integrated model for inbound Australian shipments, particularly for complex or high-value cargo requiring closer coordination.
Connor Anderson International also provides sea freight, air freight, road transportation and project cargo management, allowing the business to support shipments from international origin through final delivery.
Technology Logistics Becomes a Major Focus
AIT is placing particular emphasis on Connor Anderson International’s experience serving technology companies.
The logistics requirements surrounding cloud computing infrastructure and artificial intelligence are creating growing demand for transportation providers capable of handling expensive, sensitive and often oversized equipment.
Data centers and technology infrastructure require products including servers, networking equipment and other computing components to move securely between manufacturers, ports, warehouses and installation sites.
AIT said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to support customers moving high-value technology equipment into Australia and across the broader Oceania region.
The company already operates a dedicated technology logistics practice supporting complex supply chains for technology manufacturers and infrastructure providers.
AI Infrastructure Creates New Logistics Demand
The acquisition also reflects the physical logistics required behind the continued expansion of artificial intelligence.
AI may primarily be discussed as software, but deploying the infrastructure behind it requires significant amounts of physical equipment.
Servers, networking equipment, cooling infrastructure and other high-value components must be manufactured, transported, stored and delivered into data centers.
AIT specifically cited cloud computing components and equipment supporting AI functions as an area where Connor Anderson International’s specialized cargo experience can strengthen its offering.
For logistics companies, growth in AI infrastructure is creating another specialized supply-chain vertical where secure transportation, customs expertise, project coordination and careful handling can become particularly important.
Sydney and Melbourne Create a Base for Broader Oceania Growth
AIT appears to view Australia as the starting point rather than the endpoint of its expansion.
Chief Development Officer Ray Fennelly described the transaction as the foundation for AIT’s longer-term expansion across Oceania.
Australia’s geographic position also creates opportunities to support trade flows connecting North America, Europe and Asia with Australia and neighboring markets.
Connor Anderson International’s established operations give AIT local infrastructure and expertise from which it can expand those services.
The company’s Sydney and Melbourne locations also place AIT inside two of the country’s largest commercial and logistics hubs.
Aerospace and Automotive Customers Also Stand to Benefit
Technology is not the only vertical AIT expects to strengthen through the acquisition.
The company also highlighted aerospace and automotive logistics as areas where Connor Anderson International’s local experience can complement AIT’s global capabilities.
Both sectors can require specialized handling, time-critical transportation and complex customs management.
AIT already maintains dedicated aerospace logistics and automotive logistics operations globally.
Connecting those capabilities with local Australian transportation, warehousing and customs infrastructure gives existing customers another market where AIT can provide more direct support.
Another Step in AIT’s Global Expansion Strategy
The Connor Anderson International deal continues a broader acquisition strategy that has expanded AIT’s geographic reach and specialized logistics capabilities.
AIT has acquired logistics businesses across multiple regions and vertical markets as it builds out its international network.
The Connor Anderson International transaction is particularly notable because it introduces Oceania as another directly served region within that network.
AIT now operates across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, with freight forwarding supplemented by services including customs clearance, warehouse management and specialized delivery.
For Connor Anderson International customers, the transaction provides access to AIT’s broader global network while maintaining the Australian team and local logistics expertise they already use.
“For more than 50 years, Connor Anderson International has put customers first and developed relationships that stand the test of time,” CAI Director Theo Pambris said in the announcement.
He said joining AIT will give customers access to broader capabilities and worldwide support while maintaining the company’s existing service approach.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
