  • Barrett Distribution Centers Selected by P.S. Active for Ecommerce Fulfillment and Transportation

Barrett Distribution Centers has been selected by P.S. Active to manage ecommerce fulfillment and transportation for the premium activewear brand from Barrett’s Somerset, New Jersey, facility.

P.S. Active, founded by fitness entrepreneur Erika Hammond, is now shipping customer orders through Barrett as the brand builds out its direct-to-consumer operations.

Barrett is handling picking, packing, shipping and transportation management for the brand, adding P.S. Active to a client base that already includes apparel, footwear and consumer-product companies.

The partnership gives P.S. Active an outsourced fulfillment operation positioned close to the New York market while giving Barrett another premium apparel brand within its Northeast network.

P.S. Active Moves Fulfillment to Barrett

P.S. Active was founded by Erika Hammond after more than a decade in the fitness industry.

The brand focuses on premium activewear made with plant-derived materials rather than relying primarily on the synthetic, petroleum-based fabrics commonly used in performance apparel.

P.S. Active designs its products in New York and manufactures them in Portugal.

As the company expands its ecommerce business, Hammond said fulfillment became an important extension of the customer experience.

“We were looking for a fulfillment partner that understood premium apparel, felt like an extension of our team and shared that same commitment to quality,” Hammond said in the announcement.

She said Barrett stood out for its responsiveness, expertise and collaborative approach during the selection and onboarding process.

Orders Now Shipping from Somerset, New Jersey

Barrett is fulfilling P.S. Active orders from its Somerset, New Jersey, distribution center.

The location gives the brand access to Barrett’s fulfillment infrastructure in the Northeast while supporting ecommerce delivery across the United States.

Barrett is responsible for picking and packing online orders as well as managing outbound transportation.

P.S. Active orders are already shipping from the facility.

For a growing consumer brand, the transition moves daily fulfillment activity out of the brand’s internal operation and into a 3PL environment designed to support larger order volumes.

Apparel Fulfillment Requires More Than Basic Pick and Pack

The partnership also highlights some of the requirements that can make apparel fulfillment more specialized than standard ecommerce logistics.

Apparel brands frequently manage large SKU counts created by combinations of size, color and style.

Fulfillment providers may also need to handle branded packaging, returns, exchanges and presentation standards that directly affect the customer experience.

For premium apparel brands, how the product arrives can be almost as important as how quickly it arrives.

That makes fulfillment accuracy and consistency particularly important as brands scale.

Barrett already serves apparel, footwear and other consumer brands across its distribution network, giving P.S. Active access to a 3PL with experience in those workflows.

A Founder-Led Brand Outsources Logistics to Support Growth

For P.S. Active, the partnership represents a common inflection point for emerging ecommerce brands.

Founders can initially remain closely involved in nearly every part of the operation, but fulfillment becomes increasingly difficult to manage internally as order volume and customer expectations increase.

Outsourcing to a 3PL can give brands access to warehouse infrastructure, transportation relationships and fulfillment labor without requiring them to build those capabilities themselves.

The challenge is finding a provider that can maintain the standards the brand established while gaining the operational benefits of outsourced logistics.

Hammond emphasized that point in describing the selection process, saying that the brand wanted a provider that would operate as an extension of the internal team.

Barrett Continues Building Its Consumer Brand Portfolio

Barrett Distribution Centers provides warehousing, ecommerce fulfillment, transportation and value-added logistics services to brands across the United States.

The company works with apparel, footwear, consumer products and other industries requiring customized fulfillment operations.

Its capabilities include direct-to-consumer fulfillment, retail distribution and omnichannel logistics.

Barrett has been named to the Inc. list of fastest-growing private companies more than 15 times and has built its business around customized warehouse operations rather than a one-size-fits-all fulfillment model.

The P.S. Active partnership adds another emerging consumer brand to that portfolio.

“From my first conversation with Erika, I knew P.S. Active was the right fit for Barrett,” Harrison Smith, Director of Commercial Revenue at Barrett, said in the announcement.

He said the 3PL’s role is to make sure each order reaches customers in a way that reflects the premium experience the brand is trying to create.

Fulfillment Becomes Part of the Brand Experience

The announcement is also another example of how consumer brands increasingly view logistics as part of the customer experience rather than simply a back-office function.

For ecommerce companies, the warehouse ultimately controls some of the most visible parts of the transaction: whether the correct product is shipped, how it is packaged and how quickly the customer receives it.

That can be particularly important for younger brands still establishing customer loyalty and repeat purchasing behavior.

For 3PLs, it creates an opportunity to compete on more than warehouse space and shipping rates.

Responsiveness, onboarding, brand presentation and the ability to adapt as a customer grows can all influence which provider a brand ultimately chooses.

P.S. Active orders are now being fulfilled through Barrett’s Somerset operation.
