GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO), the world's largest pure-play contract logistics provider, has announced a partnership with The Perfume Shop, the UK's largest specialist fragrance retailer. Through this collaboration, GXO will provide weekly deliveries to over 200 high street stores via its shared transport network, aiming to reduce environmental impact, alleviate urban congestion, and lower transportation costs.

    Enhancing Retail Efficiency and Sustainability

Richard Ball, Director of GXO's Shared Transport Network, emphasized the benefits of shared transport solutions: "Shared transport networks help retailers like The Perfume Shop reduce their impact on the environment, whilst benefiting from lower transportation costs. High street locations are vital for all retailers, particularly omnichannel retailers, and it’s essential they receive the stock they need in the most efficient way possible."

Gill Smith, Managing Director at The Perfume Shop, highlighted the importance of environmental efficiency in their logistics operations: "Partnering with GXO meant we found a solution that avoided empty space in vehicles and kept our operation efficient and cost effective. Since working alongside GXO, we have been able to maintain our excellent customer experience whilst improving our impact on the environment."

    Reducing Urban Congestion and Emissions

GXO's shared transport fleet consolidates deliveries for multiple retailers, decreasing the number of vehicles entering busy city centers. On average, GXO operates vehicles carrying deliveries from five different customers, stopping at 8 to 10 locations per journey, enhancing efficiency compared to dedicated delivery services.

This approach not only reduces carbon emissions but also addresses urban congestion—a growing concern as cities implement policies to limit vehicle emissions and promote cleaner transportation solutions.
