A Strategic Midwest Hub with Deep Personal Roots for the Founder
Highline Commerce, a fast-growing Brooklyn-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider, has officially launched its third fulfillment center—this time in Dayton, Ohio. The move marks a major milestone in the company’s growth, positioning it closer to the bulk of the U.S. population while also fulfilling a long-held personal goal for CEO and founder Richard Hurley, a Dayton native.
“Building something meaningful here has been a dream since day one,” Hurley shared on LinkedIn, noting that the city where he grew up is now home to a central hub for the company. “Dayton is about a one-day drive to 65% of the U.S. population, and an ideal spot for our brands to grow.”
Highline Commerce: A Brand-First 3PL for Modern E-Commerce
Launched in 2020 during the early days of the pandemic, Highline Commerce was founded to serve the next generation of e-commerce brands with modern, tech-enabled logistics. The company offers warehousing and fulfillment services across multiple channels—including direct-to-consumer (DTC), retail, and wholesale—and emphasizes clean onboarding, transparent communication, and dedicated account management.
From Highline’s website, their value proposition is clear: a boutique fulfillment experience backed by big-league tools. The company supports fast-growing brands in categories like apparel, wellness, personal care, and pet supplies—offering custom solutions without the slowdowns often found in larger, more rigid 3PLs.
Some standout features include:
- Dedicated warehouse teams for faster, more accurate pick-pack operations
- Custom-branded packaging to elevate unboxing experiences
- Same-day fulfillment and tight SLAs, even during peak periods
- Flexible integrations with Shopify, Amazon, NetSuite, and other platforms
Highline now operates three strategically located facilities: its original location in Brooklyn, a second site in the New Jersey area, and this newly announced warehouse in Dayton.
The Dayton Expansion: Built by the Team, for the Community
While the move to Dayton is a logistical win—optimizing shipping zones and reducing costs—it also represents a personal win for the Highline team. Hurley credits the support of his teammates and family for helping bring the facility to life.
“I was effectively out of office for a month in NYC while we stood this up, and the team held it down without missing a beat,” Hurley said. “This is what scrappy looks like.”
The company also plans to hire locally in Dayton, reinforcing its commitment to community development and long-term investment in the region.
Highline on the Rise
With continued growth, Highline Commerce is emerging as one of the most exciting new players in the logistics space—especially for brands that want hands-on service without sacrificing scale. Its rapid expansion and brand-first ethos stand out in an industry often dominated by massive providers offering one-size-fits-all models.
As logistics becomes more critical to brand identity and customer experience, 3PLs like Highline are proving that you can be both efficient and personal—local and national—scrappy and strategic.
