The Convention & Truck Show
The York Expo Center has been transformed into a truck enthusiast's paradise as hundreds of trucks, spanning the past century, descend upon the venue for the 2024 American Truck Historical Society's (ATHS) National Convention & Truck Show. This year's event features an impressive array of vehicles, from vintage firetrucks and classic tractor-trailers to rare milk trucks, making it a must-visit for anyone fascinated by the history and evolution of trucking.
The convention, which last visited York in 2015, showcases some of the rarest trucks ever built, offering a unique glimpse into the storied past of the trucking industry. Attendees have the opportunity to "Explore a Truck," where they can hop in, honk the horn, and get a hands-on experience of the inner workings of various vehicles.
ATHS President Marty Glomb emphasized the educational value of the event. "We're preserving and promoting the history of trucking in the United States of America," Glomb stated. "Everything that we consume virtually comes in a truck." This immersive experience not only celebrates the heritage of trucking but also highlights its critical role in modern commerce and daily life.
Reconnect & Network
For many truckers, the event is also a chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues from across North America. Jason Sanders, owner of J&A Trucking, which specializes in hauling potatoes, shared his enthusiasm: "We have a lot of friends that I know from different areas of the US and Canada. I just come and hang out and get to show off the trucks and be able to let people appreciate what I love about my truck."
Attend The Show
Single-day gate passes for the event are priced at $15 for ATHS members and $20 for non-members, with children 12 and under admitted free of charge. Tickets are available for purchase online, ensuring easy access for all who wish to attend.
The convention runs through the weekend, with doors open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Whether you're a trucking industry veteran, a history buff, or simply curious about the world of trucks, the ATHS National Convention & Truck Show promises a fascinating and fun-filled experience for all ages.
