Innovative EEASY Lid Hits Midwest Shelves in Over 250 Meijer Stores

Consumer Convenience Technologies (CCT) has announced that Chilau Foods products, now featuring the revolutionary EEASY Lid, are available in more than 250 Meijer stores across the Midwest. This marks a significant milestone for CCT, introducing the first major innovation in jar lids in nearly 80 years.

A Taste of the South with Easy Access

Chilau Foods offers a unique line of southern-inspired stew and boil bases, providing an exciting alternative to traditional stew flavors. These products tap into consumers' growing appetite for bold, ethnic flavors. The addition of the EEASY Lid enhances this offering, combining culinary adventure with unparalleled convenience.

The EEASY Lid: A Breakthrough in Accessibility

The EEASY Lid, CCT's patented innovation, allows consumers to open vacuum-sealed jars with ease. By pressing a button on the lid, the vacuum seal is vented, reducing the torque required to twist off the lid by up to 50%. Traditional jar lids can require over 40 in-lb of torque to open, whereas the EEASY Lid needs an average of just 9 in-lb.

Sustainability at Its Core

Made from recyclable aluminum, the EEASY Lid is a sustainable packaging solution. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable and 57% lighter than traditional tin-plate lids, leading to greater efficiency in the supply chain. This sustainable approach aligns with increasing consumer demand for environmentally friendly products.

Available Now at Meijer Stores

Midwest customers can now find the EEASY Lid on two of Chilau’s popular flavors – Original Southern Style and Low Country Citrus – at Meijer grocery stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Kentucky.

Expanding Reach

In addition to its presence in Meijer stores, the EEASY Lid is already being used on products in over 250 Wegmans, Stop & Shop, Price Chopper, and Tops Friendly Markets stores, as well as select specialty grocers in the Northeast. Internationally, the lid is featured on products in EDEKA Kempken stores in Krefeld, Germany.

State-of-the-Art Production

CCT manufactures the 63 mm lug EEASY Lid at its advanced technology center in Dayton, Ohio. The facility can produce approximately 800 aluminum lug EEASY Lids per minute, totaling over 250 million annually.
