    The Transportation Asset Protection Association Asia Pacific (TAPA APAC) recently hosted the Supply Chain Resilience and Sustainability (SCRS) Conference and Awards Gala Dinner 2024 in Shanghai, China. Held on June 25th and 26th, this event, with the theme “NextGen Supply Chains: Resilience & Brand Protection,” brought together hundreds of supply chain leaders and changemakers to explore strategies, technologies, and practices essential for building resilient and sustainable supply chains.


    TAPA APAC and Its Mission


    Established in 1997, TAPA is a global association committed to upholding the highest standards of supply chain resilience and sustainability. TAPA APAC is the fastest growing supply chain community in the Asia Pacific region, with over 750 member companies, government agencies, and custom partners. The association's members include leading manufacturing brands and their logistics, transport, and security solution providers.

    Launch of Brand Protection Initiative


    This year's SCRS Conference marked the launch of TAPA APAC's Brand Protection Initiative, aimed at introducing the TAPA Brand Protection Standard (BPS). This framework sets comprehensive guidelines and best practices for safeguarding products, assets, and intellectual property against theft, counterfeiting, and tampering. The initiative is designed to enhance supply chain resilience and boost consumer trust and confidence in brands.


    Key Highlights of the Conference


    The conference opened on June 25th with a welcome address by Mr. Tony Lugg, Chairman of TAPA APAC, and a keynote by Ms. Liu Xiaodan, Director of the Shipping Department of the Pudong New Area Commercial Committee of Shanghai. The first day featured presentations and panel discussions on topics such as Risk and Resilience, Risk Assessment and Business Continuity Planning, Warehousing and Transportation Security, and Technology and Cyber Security. Speakers highlighted the need for adaptive strategies in a disruptive global market and emphasized China's critical role in global supply chains.


    Focus on Brand Protection and ESG

    The second day focused on Brand Protection opportunities and challenges, covering Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, Scrap Management, and Data Analytics and Intelligence. Discussions included leveraging TAPA Standards and cross-collaborative approaches among brands, law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and technology providers to combat counterfeiting and predict future threats. AI-driven solutions for enhancing supply chain security and sustainability were also explored.
