  • Pipe17 and Teifi Digital Launch Unified Retail Architecture Connecting Shopify, ERP, and 3PL Operations

Pipe17 and Teifi Digital have launched a joint retail architecture designed to help complex brands move store operations onto Shopify while keeping existing ERP, warehouse, and 3PL systems connected behind the scenes.

The architecture is already live in production at M·A·C Cosmetics, part of The Estée Lauder Companies, and is aimed at retailers operating 20 or more stores alongside distribution centers or third-party logistics fulfillment.

The model combines Pipe17’s connected order management system (OMS) with Teifi Digital’s retail management technology inside Shopify POS, giving retailers a unified record of orders, inventory, and fulfillment across stores, e-commerce, wholesale, and marketplace channels.

Connecting Shopify Stores With Existing Supply Chain Systems

The partnership is designed around a common challenge for larger retailers moving onto Shopify.

Store teams may want the simplicity and customer experience of Shopify POS, while the broader business still depends on established ERP systems, warehouse management platforms (WMS), and 3PL relationships.

Rather than replacing those legacy systems, Pipe17 and Teifi Digital are positioning their combined architecture as a middleware layer that connects them:

    • Pipe17: Acts as the central operations platform, maintaining order, inventory, product, and fulfillment data across sales channels and fulfillment locations while synchronizing data across ERPs, WMS platforms, and 3PLs.
    • Teifi RMS: Operates natively within Shopify POS and Shopify Admin, bringing inventory and warehouse-related workflows directly to store employees.

M·A·C Cosmetics Already Running the Model

The new architecture is actively operating across M·A·C Cosmetics locations.

Pipe17 maintains inventory records, purchase order data, transfers, and advance ship notices (ASNs) while also routing orders between locations and posting financial information back into the company’s enterprise ERP environment.

Teifi Digital RMS provides the store-facing operational layer within Shopify.

Store employees can receive purchase orders, conduct inventory counts, transfer products between locations, pick orders, and support in-store pickup and local delivery directly within the Shopify interface.

3PLs Remain Part of the Retail Technology Stack

One of the central aspects of the partnership for logistics providers is how directly 3PLs are incorporated into the architecture.

Pipe17 states its platform supports more than 300 pre-configured connectors and can automatically route orders to the appropriate distribution center, retail store, or third-party logistics provider.

That allows retailers to maintain a single inventory and order record even when fulfillment is distributed across multiple internal warehouses and outsourced logistics partners.

For 3PLs serving omnichannel retailers, that type of API-driven connectivity is becoming increasingly vital as brands distribute inventory across company-operated facilities, retail stores, and outside fulfillment providers.

A Single Inventory Record Across Channels

Pipe17 describes its role as a connected order management system rather than a traditional standalone platform.

The system maintains a shared record of orders, inventory, products, and fulfillment activity across DTC, B2B, retail, and marketplace channels.

Orders can be routed based on the retailer’s custom fulfillment logic to a distribution center, retail store, or partner 3PL.

The platform also connects Shopify order and payout data with ERP systems, allowing financial entries to flow back into existing enterprise accounting infrastructure without manual reconciliation.

Teifi Brings Warehouse-Like Functions Into Shopify POS

Teifi Digital handles the physical store interface through Teifi RMS.

The system gives retail store employees access to workflows that traditionally reside inside an ERP, inventory management system (IMS), or warehouse management platform.

Retail teams can scan and receive purchase orders, perform inventory counts, execute stock transfers, pick orders, and manage localized fulfillment directly through Shopify.

Inventory adjustments are reason-coded and recorded through an audit trail to maintain enterprise financial controls.

    Built for Complex Omnichannel Retailers

The companies are specifically targeting enterprise retailers with 20 or more stores that also utilize distribution centers or third-party fulfillment providers.

The target market includes retailers selling across physical stores, direct-to-consumer e-commerce, and wholesale channels while maintaining an existing ERP system.

Switching e-commerce or POS platforms often turns into a major supply-chain overhaul because changing one system impacts warehouse integrations, inventory visibility, accounting, and order routing.

By separating those layers, Shopify serves as the front-end commerce interface while Pipe17 coordinates the supply chain systems behind it.

Commerce Technology and Logistics Continue to Converge

The partnership reflects a broader convergence of retail software and supply chain execution.

Order routing decisions now routinely evaluate inventory located in distribution centers, 3PL warehouses, and retail stores simultaneously.

Pipe17 already integrates with brands including Allbirds, Wyze, and MaryRuth, as well as logistics and fulfillment providers including FedEx, Radial, and Ryder.

The partnership with Teifi Digital extends that operational connectivity into physical retail environments using Shopify POS.
