  • PRISM Logistics Embraces Automation to Empower People and Future-Proof Operations

PRISM Logistics, a leading Northern California third-party logistics (3PL) provider, has partnered with Raymond West Intralogistics Solutions to implement advanced automation technology at its Lathrop, California distribution center. The investment marks a major step toward smarter, more scalable operations designed to enhance both efficiency and the human side of logistics.

Building a Smarter Warehouse, Not Just a Faster One

Rather than reacting to labor shortages or space constraints, PRISM took a proactive approach—reimagining its warehouse layout and processes to eliminate inefficiencies before they became bottlenecks. Working closely with Raymond West, PRISM identified repetitive travel time as a key source of wasted effort and set out to transform how goods move through its facility.

The Solution: Targeted Automation in Action

The Lathrop site now features a combination of technologies designed to optimize space utilization and reduce manual movement, including:

    • Standard and pushback racking to improve density and accessibility
    • Stand-up forklifts for enhanced maneuverability
    • Muratec automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to handle repetitive pallet transport
    • Radioshuttle semi-automatic pallet shuttle systems for high-density storage and improved throughput

These tools work together to reduce forklift travel time, increase productivity, and prepare PRISM’s operations for scalable growth. Raymond West’s Radioshuttle solution, in particular, provides a major boost in storage efficiency while maintaining flexibility for a variety of SKUs.

    Results and Long-Term Vision

The benefits extend well beyond the warehouse floor. PRISM expects significant gains in labor efficiency, throughput, and space utilization while positioning itself for future expansion.

“Our partnership with Raymond West has been instrumental in helping us evolve from a traditional warehouse operation to a future-ready logistics provider,” said Jeremy Van Puffelen, president of PRISM Logistics. “It’s not just about short-term ROI—it’s about building smarter, more scalable operations for the long haul.”

A Partnership Focused on People and Progress

While the new automation systems enhance efficiency, PRISM emphasizes that the goal is to empower its team, not replace it. By leveraging technology to handle repetitive or physically demanding tasks, PRISM’s workforce can focus on higher-value activities—continuing its three-decade tradition of service excellence across Northern California.
