Syngenta Expands Midwest Distribution Partnership with WSI
Syngenta Crop Protection and WSI (Warehouse Specialists, LLC) have announced the expansion of their long-standing partnership, transforming WSI’s Council Bluffs facility into a full-service logistics hub for Syngenta’s Midwest operations.
From Greenfield Build to Regional Cornerstone
When Syngenta first selected WSI in 2018 to lead the development of a new U.S. distribution hub, the goal was ambitious: create a modern, compliant, and scalable facility to serve America’s agricultural heartland. That vision became reality in October 2020, when the 137,000-square-foot, WSI-owned facility opened its doors amid global supply chain disruption.
Now designated as a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and Responsible Care® certified, the Council Bluffs site supports both domestic and international operations, becoming one of Syngenta’s top-performing distribution centers nationwide.
Evolving from Warehousing to Integrated Logistics
The latest expansion elevates WSI’s role from single-service provider to integrated logistics partner, including dedicated freight shuttle services connecting Syngenta’s regional network. The shift underscores WSI’s reputation for safety, performance, and proactive collaboration.
“You earn trust through consistent performance, which earns the opportunity to deliver more value,” said Bob Schroeder, CEO of WSI. “Syngenta knows we’ll execute with the same precision and reliability that have defined our work together.”
Located at the intersection of Interstates 29 and 80, the 43-acre site offers six-state regional coverage and expansion potential, including future rail access. WSI also provides international inventory visibility and real-time management, ensuring operational reliability across Syngenta’s complex supply chain.
A Model for Resilient, Sustainable Supply Chains
WSI’s investment in advanced containment infrastructure, combined with its Responsible Care Partner of the Year recognition, reinforces its commitment to safety, sustainability, and long-term scalability. For Syngenta, the partnership exemplifies how close collaboration can enhance efficiency and responsiveness across agricultural logistics.
“WSI is not just an executor but a true collaborative partner,” said Vikrant Rai, Manager of Operations Strategy at Syngenta. “They proactively surface challenges and work with us on solutions.”
