  • THOMAX Gains UK Momentum as Miniclipper Passes Two-Thirds Mark in WMS Rollout

UK third-party logistics provider Miniclipper Logistics has brought its fourth warehouse live on THOMAX .wms, moving the company more than two-thirds of the way through a six-site warehouse management system rollout.

The latest go-live covers Miniclipper’s Dunstable EAV warehouse and continues a phased implementation designed to standardize warehouse operations across the company’s network.

Four of Miniclipper’s six sites are now running on THOMAX .wms, with the remaining two locations scheduled to go live in Q1 2027.

The rollout is a significant part of Miniclipper’s continued shift from traditional transport and pallet distribution into more complex warehousing and e-commerce fulfillment services.

Supporting Miniclipper’s Growth in E-Commerce Fulfillment

Founded in 1971 as a one-man-and-a-van operation, Miniclipper Logistics has grown into a third-generation family logistics business employing around 230 people and operating approximately 60 trucks.

Over time, the company has expanded beyond general haulage into pallet networks, warehousing and increasingly e-commerce fulfillment.

That evolution created the need for a warehouse management platform capable of supporting e-commerce fulfillment, kitting operations, customer ERP integrations, multi-site warehouse management and rapid implementation without extensive custom development.

Miniclipper selected THOMAX .wms following an evaluation process focused on flexibility, integration capability and deployment speed.

Processing an Order Roughly Every Five Seconds

Since migrating its fulfillment operation in Burton-on-Trent to THOMAX .wms, Miniclipper says it is now processing an order roughly every five seconds during peak periods.

The system has also provided the business with as much as one month of forward visibility into customer orders, helping warehouse teams plan labor, inventory and capacity around next-day delivery requirements and strict customer service KPIs.

Each implementation has been carried out site by site to minimize disruption to existing operations, with THOMAX personnel providing on-site support during each go-live.

The phased approach is particularly important for a 3PL environment where maintaining customer service levels during a systems migration can be just as important as the functionality of the new platform itself.

    Four Warehouses Now Live

The Dunstable rollout follows previous THOMAX implementations across Miniclipper’s network, including sites in Burton-on-Trent and Leighton Buzzard.

The first warehouse went live less than four months after the contract was signed, giving Miniclipper a relatively fast deployment path compared with many larger WMS implementation projects.

The remaining two warehouses are expected to transition to THOMAX .wms during Q1 2027.

Once complete, Miniclipper will operate all six warehouses on a single WMS platform, less than two years after the first site went live.

Building a More Connected 3PL Network

Peter Masters, Managing Director at Miniclipper Logistics, said the company needed a warehouse management system capable of keeping pace with its growth in e-commerce fulfillment.

According to Masters, flexibility and deployment speed were among the company's main requirements, while feedback from warehouse teams has also helped drive additional operational improvements during the rollout.

For THOMAX, the Miniclipper implementation represents another significant UK deployment as the cloud-based warehouse and transport management software provider expands its presence in the market.

Thomas Jackson, Founder and Managing Director of THOMAX, said Miniclipper’s ability to continually adapt its business made it a strong fit for the platform.

With most of the network now operating on the same system, Miniclipper is positioned to integrate more easily with customer technology platforms, make better use of warehouse capacity and support additional fulfillment growth.

A Broader Shift Toward Multi-Site WMS Platforms

The project also reflects a broader trend among growing 3PLs toward consolidating warehouse operations onto unified cloud-based warehouse management systems.

As logistics providers add fulfillment customers, facilities and service offerings, fragmented warehouse systems can make inventory visibility, customer integrations and operational reporting increasingly difficult.

For Miniclipper, moving all six warehouses onto one platform is intended to provide a more consistent operating environment while supporting continued expansion in e-commerce and contract logistics.

The final two site implementations are currently planned for Q1 2027.
