Manifest 2025: TOC Logistics Discusses Food-Grade Fulfillment & Procurement Solutions
Manifest 2025 brought together top leaders in logistics, supply chain management, and e-commerce fulfillment to discuss the latest innovations in the industry. Among them was Jason Evans, Director of Systems & Planning of TOC Logistics, who sat down with Bill Carlin, CMO of Racklify, to discuss the complexities of food-grade fulfillment, lot tracking, and procurement strategies for global brands looking to enter the Canadian market.
TOC Logistics: A Leader in Full-Service Logistics
TOC Logistics is a premier third-party logistics (3PL) provider that specializes in e-commerce fulfillment, 3PL warehousing solutions, full-service logistics, and professional supply chain management. Their expertise lies in helping businesses centralize operations, offering everything from pick and pack order fulfillment to smart labeling and returns processing.
For companies selling direct-to-consumer (DTC) or working with wholesale retail partners, TOC Logistics provides secure, flexible warehousing solutions with fully integrated fulfillment capabilities. Their advanced supply chain technology simplifies logistics and ensures that products move seamlessly from manufacturer to consumer.
Food-Grade Fulfillment: Why It’s Different
During the conversation, Evans explained how food-grade fulfillment differs from standard pick and pack operations, emphasizing the rigorous standards that warehouses must adhere to.
“There’s a lot of differences in having a food-grade facility. We’re subscribed and certified through BRCGS (British Retail Consortium Global Standards), which requires strict safety protocols, facility inspections, pest control, lot traceability, and the ability to conduct recalls and mock recalls when needed,” said Evans.
These strict food safety requirements are often dictated by retailers and manufacturers that expect full traceability from production to store shelves. This means warehouses must implement advanced tracking systems to ensure that products can be traced back to their origin in the event of a recall.
Beyond Warehousing: TOC Logistics’ Procurement Services
One unique aspect of TOC Logistics is their procurement services, which support clients in sourcing, RFP (Request for Proposal) management, and retail partnerships.
“We have a dedicated team that assists with procurement, whether it’s managing RFPs, sourcing packaging, or helping brands establish a retail presence in Canada,” Evans explained.
TOC Logistics has been instrumental in helping brands expand into Canadian retail chains. One notable example is their work with Canadian Tire, one of Canada’s largest retailers, to help clients break into the market.
Navigating the Complexities of Canadian Logistics
Canada presents unique logistics challenges, including vast geographic distances and limited carrier availability in remote areas. Unlike in the U.S., major carriers such as UPS and FedEx do not service every location, requiring strategic partnerships with local and regional carriers.
“From an East-West perspective, the U.S. and Canada aren’t that different, but when it comes to population density and carrier coverage, it’s a whole different game. That’s why finding the right logistics partner is critical,” Evans noted.
For global e-commerce sellers, Amazon sellers, and omnichannel brands looking to expand into Canada, TOC Logistics offers comprehensive solutions to help navigate these challenges, ensuring smooth cross-border shipping, fulfillment, and last-mile delivery.
