Trucker Tools Launches Fraud Toolkit to Combat Fraud in the Freight Industry

Trucker Tools, a leader in freight-tracking technology, has introduced its new Fraud Toolkit, designed to address the growing issue of fraudulent activities in the freight industry. With fraud becoming increasingly sophisticated, Trucker Tools aims to equip freight brokers with the tools needed to identify and combat these threats.

The Growing Challenge of Freight Fraud

We know that double brokering alone claims $500 million to $700 million from carriers and brokers annually.”

Trucker Tools’ Fraud Toolkit is designed to help brokers reduce these losses by identifying threats in real time and allowing brokers to take immediate action.

Key Features of the Fraud Toolkit

The Fraud Toolkit includes six core features, all of which run automatically in the background, notifying brokers only when potential threats are detected:

1. International IP Activity: Detects access from IP addresses outside North America and notifies brokers if location updates are attempted from unexpected regions.
2. IP Masking Detection: Identifies location updates from VPNs, hosting servers, or proxies to ensure updates come from legitimate carriers.
3. VOIP Phone Number Alerts: Flags when a load track phone number is VOIP, helping to identify potential identity masking by fraudulent actors.
4. Custom Carrier Network: Enables brokers to control which carriers can view and book their loads while sourcing quality out-of-network carriers.
5. Proactive Location Verification: Ensures pickup numbers are protected and only released once tracking begins, with automated updates for geofenced areas.
6. Geotagged Document Scanning: Verifies document uploads with real-time, location-based geotagging to confirm when and where documents are scanned.

Swift Action on Fraud Detection

Trucker Tools has implemented an alerting system to allow brokers to respond immediately when fraud is detected. On average, 247,000 location updates from outside North America are blocked monthly, and 5,420 VOIP numbers are identified. Brokers receive real-time email notifications for suspicious activity, and fraud-related statuses are visible in the Load Track portal.

These fraud alerts can also be integrated into Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for seamless workflow management.
