Opelt Sand and Gravel, LLC, and G&S Trucking of Neillsville, Inc. are two local businesses that work side by side. The company started back in 1947 by Carl Opelt. When he started, all he had was his horse and buggy. In 1972, the business was then passed on to his sons, Gordon "Butch" Opelt and 3 of his brothers. G&S Trucking was then started in 1984 by Gordon and Scott Opelt (G&S) to keep expanding the business. In 1997, Butch's three sons (Scott, Mike, and Carl) started to take over the businesses of Opelt Sand and Gravel and G&S Trucking.
