Map carrier density, intermodal terminals, and typical lane volumes when comparing sites.

Negotiate transparent unit-based rates (storage, pick/pack, receiving), clearly defined accessorials, volume tier discounts, and seasonal capacity clauses. Include performance-based SLAs with financial remedies, minimums and rollover terms, and defined notice periods for rate or service changes.

Require a modern WMS with real-time inventory, open APIs or EDI for order and shipment flows, e-commerce platform connectors, and customizable reporting. Verify cycle-count processes, exception handling workflows, and the 3PL’s ability to support automated returns and multi-channel order routing.
