Frequently Asked Questions

Evaluate WMS and integration capabilities, inbound/outbound throughput, dock and racking configuration, pick/pack accuracy, automation and sortation options, temperature control, returns handling, SLA commitments, labor flexibility, and reporting. Align these capabilities with SKU velocity, order profiles, and peak volumes to confirm capacity and service-level fit.

Proximity to major highways and intermodal terminals shortens linehaul and last-mile runs, reducing parcel and LTL costs. Dense carrier pickup routes raise pickup density and negotiating leverage. Map carrier lanes and transit times from Brooks to quantify delivery window improvements and cost-to-serve differences for DTC and B2B lanes.

Common charges include storage (pallet/cubic), receiving and putaway, pick-and-pack (per pick/per order), outbound freight handling, and accessorials. Negotiate volume tiers, seasonal labor clauses, minimums, billing cadence, and KPIs. Model peak-week scenarios to compare fixed versus variable cost impacts on margins and service.

Conduct site visits and operational audits, review SLA language and financial remedies, request inventory accuracy and OTIF reports, confirm insurance and certifications, test EDI/API integrations, and obtain client references. Consider a time-bound pilot to validate throughput, reporting, and dispute resolution procedures before finalizing terms.
