CWS Logistics Ltd

Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada

It was 1997 when CWS Logistics Ltd. began as a warehouse and packaging facility focusing on the distribution of crop protection products and seed in Western Canada. We started in Regina, Saskatchewan, and from there delivered excellent customer service and dependability. Our warehouse space doubled in 1998 to better accommodate our growing client base. We continued to grow adding AWSA warehouses in Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg. It was at this time that we added a fertilizer trans-load facility in Belle Plaine Saskatchewan. In 2003 the CWS head office was established in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our trailer fleet expanded to include Tridem dry vans, and by 2005 we had over 100 trailers in our fleet. It was at this time that we began operating our first turnpike trailer configuration between Regina and Winnipeg. In 2006, CWS purchased a new warehouse and packaging facility in Regina. We had now survived and flourished for ten years of operation. In 2011, CWS completed construction of a brand new facility in Saskatoon. Our footprint grew again in 2013 with the purchase of an additional facility in Winnipeg and a new warehouse space in Calgary. 2013 proved to be a busy year as we completed our state of the art packaging facility and warehouse in Regina. As an organization, CWS Logistics now exceeds 800,000 ft² of operational space and operates 75 highway tractors and 200 trailers. As an established yet ever-growing company, CWS provides complete logistical services to multi-national, publicly traded and privately held companies. We are proud to say that we are the largest privately held, asset based 3PL in Western Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prioritize measurable operational KPIs: dock door count and layout, throughput (picks per hour), pick accuracy, slotting strategy, and technology stack (WMS integration, EDI/API connectivity). Also evaluate value‑added services, scalability for seasonal peaks, and carrier mix to confirm alignment with delivery SLAs and cost targets.

Verify these items during site selection and contracting:

  • Local carrier roster and frequency for LTL/TL lanes and parcel tenders
  • Truck accessibility, yard capacity, and staging areas
  • Proximity to intermodal terminals and typical drayage times
  • Redundancy for utilities, temperature control, and security—to ensure continuity and predictable lead times
  • Location and labor drive both fixed and variable cost components: lower lease and wage rates reduce per‑unit storage and handling costs, improving margin on low‑density SKUs. However, balance savings against transit time to end customers—longer last‑mile legs can increase carrier fees. Model total landed cost (storage + picks + transport) to quantify tradeoffs.
