Verify dock configuration, trailer circulation, available racking and clear height, bonded or customs processing, and temperature zones. Check daily truck and LTL departures, port-feeder links, and the partner’s carrier contracts to ensure reliable distribution to your endpoints.

Use demand segmentation and network modeling to place fast-moving SKUs closer to major demand corridors, hold replenishment stock for slower items, and leverage cross-dock or forward staging to shorten delivery windows while reducing safety stock and aggregate transportation costs.

Include KPIs such as order cycle time, accuracy rate, OTIF, and inventory shrink. Contract terms should define chargeable events, minimums, liability limits, performance rebates/penalties, notice periods for rate changes, and data-access rights for operational visibility.
