Expect lower land lease and labor rates than major metros, which can reduce storage and pick/pack costs. However, factor in last-mile mileage to key consumer markets and potential inland haul costs; modeling landed cost per SKU across volumes will show true savings versus urban locations.

Require WMS with real-time inventory visibility, accurate pick-and-pack operations, configurable SLA tiers for same-day/next-day fulfillment, returns processing, and cold-chain if needed. Confirm TMS/WMS integration options and API support for order routing, carrier selection and performance reporting.

Assess spare capacity for peak volumes, expansion clauses, contingency plans for port/road disruptions, insurance and compliance, data integration maturity, KPI monitoring and historical SLA attainment. Review contractual exit terms, transition support and ability to add value-added services as volumes grow.
