Platinum Transport Solutions Ltd

Belvedere, England, United Kingdom

Long-time friends since their school days, Joe Tait—once a delivery driver—and Stuart Chown—a former driver’s mate—shared a vision to build something greater. That vision came to life in 2001 with the launch of Platinum Express Couriers, which later evolved into Platinum Transport Solutions, today recognised as a trusted name in FORS Gold accredited transport and a leading London logistics company. Starting out from a bedroom in Joe’s mum’s house, they quickly grew beyond expectations. Their first office in Crayford supported two-man van operations, but the real momentum came with their move to Belvedere, where they began expanding into HGV supply. Stuart earned his CPC in Transport Management while Joe focused on business development. Although new to the transport industry, their dedication was unwavering. They immersed themselves in learning the sector inside out, driven by a shared passion to offer something better—reliable, compliant, and customer-focused transport. This hands-on approach laid the groundwork for Platinum’s enduring reputation in FORS Gold accredited transport services. Recognising the need for end-to-end solutions, they ventured into warehousing and soon relocated to a site offering integrated storage and logistics. This allowed them to offer clients a more comprehensive service and progress toward becoming a full-scale London logistics company. In 2018, with industry demands shifting, Joe and Stuart made the bold decision to specialise further. Seeing the future in specialist vehicle transport, they invested in Lorry Mounted Forklifts (Moffetts) and Hiabs, paving the way for Platinum to become one of the South East’s most capable Hiab and Moffett specialists. In 2023, they made their biggest leap yet—moving into a new, modern facility featuring an automated warehouse and spacious offices. Around this time, Joe and Stuart passed the reins to the next generation of leadership. Through a management buyout, Joe’s sister Abbe Gillen—who had worked in HR, compliance, and accounts since 2012—partnered with Martin Webb, a transport and compliance expert who joined in 2019. Together, they continue to grow Platinum with the same values that built its foundation. Now based in Belvedere with over 80,000 sq. ft. of warehousing space, Platinum Transport Solutions is proud to be a family-run business delivering reliable, compliant, and safe solutions as a FORS Gold accredited transport provider. With a modern fleet including 18T and 44T vehicles, Lorry Mounted Forklifts, Hiabs, and expertise in warehousing, consolidation, and dangerous goods handling—Platinum stands at the forefront of London logistics companies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Evaluate SLA metrics (order accuracy, pick‑to‑ship times), technology (WMS, APIs, reporting), capacity and scalability of space and labor, inbound/outbound handling processes, returns and reverse logistics, inventory visibility, insurance/compliance, and local carrier connectivity to ensure network resilience.

Proximity to London reduces urban miles and driver time, lowering parcel costs and enabling tighter SLA windows. Access to the M25/A13, nearby ports such as London Gateway and Tilbury, plus rail links, shortens import lead times and drayage, improving replenishment speed and carrier routing options.

Typical models include per‑pallet or per‑sqm storage, pick‑and‑pack per order or per pick, receiving and handling fees, and minimum monthly charges. Negotiate clear SLAs for order accuracy, lead times, dock appointments, penalties/chargebacks, onboarding fees, volume tiers, and review periods to align cost with throughput.
