We provide a one-stop range of services that directly address the logistics and challenges of the 21st Century Supply Chain. This includes Transportation, Warehousing, Picking and Packing, Inventory Forecasting, Order Fulfillment, Ecommerce Fulfillment, Crating & Packaging and Freight Forwarding. The story begins in Rochester, Minnesota when John U. Steiner purchased a 1946 Ford truck. The truck was first used to haul corn to the Twin Cities and apples from Bayfield, Wisconsin to Rochester. From the start, the Milwaukee operation provided storage as well as hauling services. To meet the growing demand, a warehouse and office building was constructed, and by 1956, our operational headquarters were moved from Rochester to its current Milwaukee site. Operations continued to grow throughout the 1970's and 1980's. To serve the distribution needs of specific customers, new offices were opened around the country. At each location, the full range of our services was offered to the local market, broadening the customer base served by the companies. The 1990’s saw a period of wide spread business growth and Ace Worldwide had to take a more strategic approach to developing a value added, logistics service to our client base. The challenge of the dot-com downtown, in the 00’s, resulted in a leaner more focused service offering and coincided with the current generation of the Steiner family taking leadership roles. By 2010 logistics had matured into a solid service offering comprising of Warehousing, Distribution, Crating & Packaging and Transportation. It was time to give this capability it’s own brand and AW2 Logistics came into being. AW2 Logistics is now recognized as an innovative player in the field servicing a wide range of industries such as Healthcare, Hospitality, Ecommerce, Retail, Manufacturing and Freight Forwarding. What are the key elements of our success over the years? A commitment to continuous improvement, a desire to learn and a willingness to listen. Frequently Asked Questions

Key evaluation factors include:

  • Location and transit maps (proximity to interstates, intermodal, carriers)
  • WMS/OMS connectivity, visibility, and reporting
  • Labor pool, scalability, and peak‑season surge plans
  • Facility capabilities (racking, cold storage, cross‑dock, automation)
  • Transparent pricing and SLA enforcement

  • Costs in Bloomington tend to be lower for land, rent, and some labor categories versus coastal metros. Total cost‑to‑serve is driven by parcel zone distributions, linehaul frequency, inventory levels, handling complexity, and value of automation—so model both fixed and variable components with sample SKUs and lanes.

Prioritize inventory accuracy, scalable labor and throughput, flexible slotting, returns and reverse logistics workflows, weekend and extended hours capability, and automation or WMS features that support batching, kitting, and rapid order turnaround. Also validate contingency plans for carrier disruptions.

Run carrier rate and transit comparisons by zone, request sample shipments to representative customer ZIPs, review the 3PL's carrier agreements and pickup schedules, and evaluate intermodal options if you move palletized freight. Ask for historical on‑time delivery and parcel performance metrics.
