The Koel- en Vrieshuis Gebr. van Langen BV was founded in 1951 by JC van Langen, then known as JC van Langen Koel- en Vrieshuis, and in its first years was characterized by the storage of potatoes, cabbage, and butter. Both sons, Niek and Sjaak, took over the company in 1977, and the name was changed to: Koel- en Vrieshuis Gebr. van Langen BV. Over the years, the company was continuously expanded with new cold and freezer cells into what it has become today, with a total of 16 cells with various volumes totaling +/- 40,000 m³. From 1996, the company was managed by Mr. P. van Doorn. Due to an unfortunate accident in 1997, P. van Doorn passed away, and his wife, N. van Doorn, took over the management of the company. In 2003, the company was acquired from N. van Doorn via a management buyout. Since this acquisition, various cells and machine rooms have been renovated and modernized. As a result, the company has become what it is known as in the market today: an excellent and trusted supplier of storage and transshipment [refrigerated and frozen]. In early June 2020, Rien Montsma became the new owner of Koel- en Vrieshuis Gebr. van Langen BV.
