Koelhuis Bergmans is located 5 kilometers from the port of Harlingen and the A31 motorway in the small village of Wijnaldum. The company was founded in 1992 by Jan Bergmans to meet the demand of third parties in addition to its own processing of potatoes and onions. During the construction of the cold storage facility, a fire broke out in August 1992, reducing the (modern) arable farm to ashes. This was the second time, as the farm had also burned to the ground in 1979. After the reconstruction, the company expanded in the years that followed into a flexible service provider for the processing and storage of potatoes and onions.
