A 2,500 lb pallet of metal components arrives at a fulfillment facility. The receiving area has a maximum floor point load of 3,000 lb but the assigned racking bay is rated for 1,500 lb per level. The warehouse’s policy routes heavy pallets to reinforced bays and schedules a forklift rated for 5,000 lb to store it. The shipment is labeled, recorded in the WMS with its gross weight, and the carrier notified that special handling was required for pickup.
