Another mistake is designing cases only for product protection and ignoring operational use. A case might protect the item but be awkward to palletize, hard to scan, or too heavy for safe handling. Packaging decisions should include input from procurement, warehouse operations, transportation, and customer compliance teams.


Businesses should also avoid treating all SKUs the same. A slow-moving premium product may need smaller case packs to prevent overstocking, while a fast-moving consumable may perform better in larger master cases. The right answer depends on sales velocity, storage method, order profile, and freight economics.
