Model cost-to-serve by SKU and channel, and prioritize sites that shorten last-mile distance to your largest customer clusters while balancing warehouse occupancy and labor availability.

Prioritize road quality and direct access to trade corridors, dock doors per shift, racking density, IT integration (WMS/EDI/API), carrier pool diversity, security and customs processing capability, and demonstrated throughput for peak volumes.

Negotiate transparent rate cards for storage, handling, and value-added services; service-level agreements for pick accuracy and lead times; minimum volume commitments; fuel and accessorial pass-throughs; and flexible pricing tiers to support seasonal scaling.

Implement performance KPIs, require contingency plans for labor and transport disruptions, secure redundancies such as alternative carriers and secondary pick-up locations, and validate WMS integrations and EDI testing before go-live.
