Consider proximity to major roads and port terminals, and whether the site supports multi-carrier pickup windows and consolidation to optimize routing.

Common models include storage by pallet/sku or cubic meter, pick-and-pack per line/item, receiving and handling fees, and tiered throughput discounts. Watch for minimums, accessorials (kitting, returns, special handling), SLA credits, CPI or annual price adjustments, notice periods, and termination terms.

Track order lead time, on-time-in-full (OTIF), pick accuracy, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock time, cost per order, return processing time, and percentage of orders meeting SLA. Regular scorecards and root-cause analysis of exceptions support continuous improvement.
