Assess carrier density and negotiated parcel contracts, transit-time maps to key customers, and intermodal connections to estimate true cost-to-serve and delivery speed trade-offs.

Look for validated temperature zones, continuous monitoring and alerting, backup power, documented SOPs, traceability and batch management, sanitary controls, and relevant certifications or audit readiness. Confirm insurance limits, contingency plans, and corrective-action timelines within the contract.

Negotiate transparent unit-based pricing, minimums and volume breakpoints, clear SLAs for accuracy and lead time, KPIs with reporting cadence, change-management processes, data-access rights (EDI/API), liability terms, and defined exit clauses to preserve scalability and operational visibility.
