Plan for direct trucking corridors to major ports, consolidation schedules, border-crossing variability and potential hold times at customs. Factor buffer windows for inland trucking, use regional carrier networks for last-mile delivery, and evaluate providers that offer multi-stop consolidation and cross-docking.

Compare storage (per pallet or sqm), receiving and handling fees, pick-and-pack rates, order minimums, outbound freight accessorials, fuel surcharges and customs/bonded service charges. Run cost-to-serve scenarios by SKU and channel to reveal breakpoints for consolidation, kitting, and fulfillment location trade-offs.

Look for in-house customs brokerage, bonded or inward processing facilities, electronic filing capability, experience with duties and tariff classification, and documentation processes for preferential trade. These capabilities reduce delays, lower demurrage risk and improve predictability for cross-border fulfilment.
